Privacy Policy

Your household information deserves thoughtful treatment. This policy explains what REC'D BY collects, how we use it, when it may be shared, and the choices you may have.

Last updated: August 17, 2026

Effective: August 7, 2026

REC'D BY helps families discover trusted caregivers through people they know, organize their household care team, and coordinate care. That requires information. Some of it — like an email address — is ordinary account information. Some of it — like a child's routine, a home address, or booking location — can be much more personal.

When we say “REC'D BY,” “we,” or “our,”we mean the operator of the REC'D BY website, applications, and related services.

1. Who REC'D BY is for

REC'D BY is designed for adults managing households and for caregivers participating in care arrangements. Parent and household-owner accounts are intended for adults. Children do not create household accounts or use REC'D BY as independent users. Information about children is provided by parents, guardians, or other authorized adults for household and care-coordination purposes. Caregivers — including babysitters, pet sitters, house sitters, relatives, and other members of a care team — may have access to care-specific functionality appropriate to their role. Caregiver accounts are free.

2. Information we collect

Account information

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Profile photograph
  • Authentication and account information
  • Household membership and account role

Household information

Families may choose to provide information about their household, including:

  • Household name and members
  • Children — names, ages, gender, and care information
  • Pets
  • Home information and addresses
  • Parking information
  • Routines and instructions
  • Wi-Fi or access information
  • Security or entry information
  • Other household notes

You control what information you choose to add, subject to information required for particular functionality.

Caregiver information

REC'D BY may maintain information about caregivers such as name, photograph, contact information, services provided, rates, availability, service areas, vacation or unavailable dates, certifications and training, recommendations and ratings, care history, and profile information supplied or updated by the caregiver.

Village + connection information

To create your village, we may process information about connections between users, including direct connections, extended connections, invitations, who recommended a caregiver, and connection paths relevant to recommendations. REC'D BY may use email addresses or phone numbers to help users connect, subject to our privacy and verification controls.

Booking information

When you use scheduling or booking tools, we may collect booking dates and times, recurring or multi-day schedules, booking location, requested caregivers, interested caregivers, assigned caregiver, booking status, care instructions, calendar information, confirmation history, cancellations, and reminders and communications relating to the booking.

Location information

REC'D BY may process addresses, service areas, booking locations, and location information you choose to provide. A booking location may be your home, another household, a vacation property, hotel, or another location selected for the care arrangement. We do not sell precise geolocation information.

Recommendations + ratings

We collect recommendations, ratings, notes, and other feedback that users choose to provide about caregivers.

Communications

We may process communications sent through or generated by REC'D BY, including booking requests, acceptance or decline responses, confirmations, reminders, cancellations, account notifications, service-related email and SMS messages, and customer-support communications.

Payment information

If you choose to make an eligible payment or tip through REC'D BY, payment transactions may be processed by a third-party payment processor. REC'D BY generally does not need to store full payment-card numbers itself. We may receive transaction-related information such as payment status, amount, fees, caregiver or recipient, transaction identifier, and refund or dispute status. If you pay a caregiver through an external payment service linked from REC'D BY, that transaction is handled by that external provider and is subject to its own privacy practices.

Memberships + donations

If you purchase a membership or make a donation, we may process information necessary to manage the transaction, membership status, renewal, receipt, and support.

Background checks + screening

When background-check or screening functionality is used, information may be provided to and processed by a third-party screening provider. Depending on the service selected, this may involve identity information and other information required by the screening provider. The exact information collected, authorization required, results available, retention practices, and disclosures will depend on the background-check service offered at the time. Additional notices or authorizations may be presented when you use that functionality.

Device + usage information

We may automatically collect certain technical information, such as device type, browser or operating-system information, IP address, app or website interactions, error and diagnostic information, security logs, approximate location inferred from IP address, and cookie or similar technology information, where applicable.

3. How we use information

We may use information to:

  • Authenticate accounts
  • Create and manage households
  • Connect friends and villages
  • Show caregiver recommendations and explain how users are connected
  • Manage sitter and caregiver profiles
  • Match care requests with availability

  • Send requests, reminders, confirmations, and cancellations
  • Provide booking-specific household information to authorized caregivers
  • Manage memberships and process payments and donations
  • Facilitate background checks or screening
  • Provide customer support
  • Prevent fraud and misuse, and protect users and platform security

4. How information is shared with your village

Direct friends

Direct friends may see your household name, parent/account-owner household members, children's names, children's ages, children's gender where provided, and basic information about pets. They do not receive access — simply because they're your friend — to sensitive information such as your address, detailed household instructions, security information, Wi-Fi information, private care notes, or booking-specific private details.

Friends of friends

Extended connections may see the parent/account-owner members associated with your household. They do not receive access to your children's information, pet information, home address, private household notes, or security information merely because they are connected through your extended village.

Caregivers

A caregiver may receive information necessary for a booking or care relationship — the booking location and relevant information about children, pets, household routines, arrival instructions, or other details you provide for the care. Caregiver access is role- and booking-related and is not the same as general access to your household profile.

5. Service providers

We use third parties to help operate REC'D BY. Depending on the functionality you use, these providers may support services such as database and authentication, hosting, email, SMS, payment processing, maps and address validation, background checks, security, analytics, error monitoring, and customer support. These providers may process information on our behalf or according to their own applicable terms and privacy obligations. We aim to provide third parties only the information reasonably necessary for the services they perform.

6. Advertising + sponsorships

REC'D BY may display limited sponsorships or advertising as part of supporting the service. Our goal is to keep any advertising useful, relevant, and nonintrusive. We do not intend to use sensitive household details — such as information about your children, private care instructions, home security information, or booking-specific household data — to create advertising profiles. If REC'D BY introduces advertising or analytics practices that trigger additional notice, opt-out, or consent requirements under applicable privacy law, we will provide the required choices. Advertising and sponsorships never involve your mobile phone number or your text-messaging consent data — see Section 7.

7. Text messaging (SMS) + mobile information

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties for any purpose. Mobile phone numbers collected for text messaging are never sold, rented, or shared for marketing, promotional, or advertising purposes, and are not used to build advertising profiles.

REC'D BY does not send marketing or promotional text messages. Text messages are sent only for service-related purposes you have asked for — invitations, verification, booking requests and responses, confirmations, reminders, cancellations, new messages, and account or security notices.

Text messaging is opt-in: you provide your mobile number and give affirmative consent when setting up your account, and each message type can be turned on or off independently in your notification settings. No text message is sent for a given type until you enable it. Message frequency varies based on your account activity and the notification types you have enabled. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out of text messages at any time; you may also disable SMS per message type in your notification settings. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Email.REC'D BY uses email for the same service-related communications, and where permitted may also send occasional marketing email — which always includes an unsubscribe option. Marketing preferences apply to email only; opting out of marketing email does not stop messages necessary to provide a service you requested or important account, security, or transaction information.

8. Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to maintain your account, provide booking and care history, support recommendations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, and meet legal, accounting, or security requirements. Different categories of information may have different retention periods. Some booking access may expire even though the underlying booking record remains in your account history. When information is no longer reasonably needed, we may delete, anonymize, or de-identify it, subject to applicable law and legitimate retention requirements.

9. Account deletion

You may request deletion of your account and certain associated personal information. Deleting a parent account may affect household membership, household data, connections, booking history, recommendations, and caregiver profiles initially added by that user. Some information may be retained when reasonably necessary for legal compliance, fraud prevention, payment records, disputes, safety, or other legitimate purposes. Where a caregiver has been recommended or used by multiple families, deleting one user's account does not necessarily require deletion of all information associated with that caregiver.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply to REC'D BY, you may have rights regarding your personal information. These can include rights to access personal information, request correction, request deletion, obtain a copy of certain information, learn how information is used or disclosed, opt out of certain targeted advertising, sale, or sharing practices where applicable, limit certain uses of sensitive information where applicable, appeal certain privacy-request decisions, and exercise privacy rights without unlawful discrimination. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by applicable law and subject to appropriate verification.

To make a privacy request, reach us through the REC'D BY Contact page.

11. Children's privacy

REC'D BY is not designed as an online service for children to independently create accounts or submit personal information. Parents, guardians, and authorized adults may provide information about children as part of managing household care. If we learn that a child has independently created or used an account in a manner that is not permitted, we may restrict or delete the account and associated information as appropriate.

12. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No digital system can guarantee absolute security. Users also play an important role by protecting account credentials, using secure devices, and sharing household access information carefully. If you believe your REC'D BY account or household information may have been compromised, please contact us promptly.

13. Third-party links + services

REC'D BY may link to external services such as payment applications, maps, background-check providers, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. A link from REC'D BY does not mean we control that provider's practices.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as REC'D BY evolves. If we make material changes, we may provide notice through the app, website, email, or another reasonable method. The “Last updated” date will identify the current version.
